Dartmoor Heather Honey
Our Heather honey is dark amber in colour, with an intense aroma and a long-lasting taste. It has both slightly bitter and smoky notes, and is tangy and mildly sweet. This sought-after honey works really well with yogurt, fruit, pancakes or cheeses.
Produced in the heart of Devon, our Heather Honey is gathered from the nectar of moorland Ling Heather at our apiary sites in the Dartmoor national park. Our Dartmoor sites are in areas of open moorland, where there is low pesticide use and low intensity farming, giving our bees the best opportunities to make the highest quality honey.
Thixotropic
The unique protein content of Heather honey, causes it to have a jelly-like consistency, known as thixotropic. When the honey sits normally in the jar it is gel-like and firm, but it will become temporarily liquid if agitated or stirred.
